Ingredients
Scale
Sweet Potatoes
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
Seasonings & Oils
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Cheese & Garnish
- 4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh thyme, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400ºF (200ºC) to ensure it’s ready for roasting the sweet potatoes evenly.
- Prepare Sweet Potatoes: Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into thin rounds to allow for even cooking and better absorption of flavors.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large resealable bag, add the sweet potato slices along with minced garlic, olive oil, melted butter, garlic salt, freshly cracked pepper, grated Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. Seal the bag and shake well to coat all the slices thoroughly.
- Arrange in Baking Dish: Lightly butter a baking dish to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated sweet potato slices in a spiral pattern, which helps them cook uniformly and looks visually appealing.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves evenly over the top. Add additional Parmesan cheese if desired for extra flavor and richness.
- Roast: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and roast for 30-35 minutes. Check towards the end of cooking to prevent burning and ensure the sweet potatoes are tender and golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately, optionally garnished with more fresh thyme for added aroma and presentation.
Notes
- Make sure to slice the sweet potatoes evenly to allow for consistent cooking.
- If you prefer a crispier texture, you can broil the sweet potatoes for the last 2-3 minutes but watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Fresh thyme adds a nice herbal flavor, but you can substitute with rosemary or sage if preferred.
- Butter can be substituted with a dairy-free alternative for a lactose-free version.
