Turkey:
- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs), thawed if frozen
Seasoning:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
Additional:
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 lemon, halved
- 4 garlic cloves, smashed
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F and position a rack in the lower third of the oven.
- Prepare the Turkey: Remove giblets and neck from the turkey. Pat dry with paper towels.
- Season the Turkey: Mix butter with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and herbs. Rub seasoned butter over and under the turkey skin.
- Stuff the Turkey: Fill the cavity with onion, lemon, and garlic.
- Roast the Turkey: Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan, pour broth into the pan, tent with foil, and roast for 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
- Rest and Serve: Let the turkey rest before carving.
