Turkey:

Seasoning:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped

Additional:

  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F and position a rack in the lower third of the oven.
  2. Prepare the Turkey: Remove giblets and neck from the turkey. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Season the Turkey: Mix butter with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and herbs. Rub seasoned butter over and under the turkey skin.
  4. Stuff the Turkey: Fill the cavity with onion, lemon, and garlic.
  5. Roast the Turkey: Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan, pour broth into the pan, tent with foil, and roast for 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the turkey rest before carving.
