  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for frying

For the gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the steaks: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 oval patties.
  2. Cook the steaks: Heat olive oil in a skillet, cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Transfer to a plate.
  3. Make the gravy: In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms, onions, and garlic. Add flour, then slowly whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Finish the dish: Return patties to the skillet, cover with gravy, and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for beef.
