Description

Sloppy Joe Crescent Bake is a comforting and easy-to-make dish that combines the flavors of a classic sloppy joe sandwich with a flaky crescent roll crust and gooey melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Crescent Roll Crust and Topping:

  • 1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Cook the filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and green pepper until the beef is browned and the vegetables are soft, about 5–7 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for 5–10 minutes until slightly thickened, then remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the crust: Unroll the crescent dough and press it evenly into the bottom and slightly up the sides of the baking dish to form a crust.
  4. Assemble and bake: Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the dough and top with shredded cheddar cheese. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until the crescent crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley or add a layer of sliced pickles before baking.
  • You can also swap in ground turkey or plant-based crumbles for a lighter version.
