Description

Tender and flavorful barbecue ribs cooked to perfection in a slow cooker with a hint of cola for a unique twist. These ribs are fall-off-the-bone delicious and will be a hit at any gathering or family dinner.

Ribs:

  • 3 to 4 pounds pork baby back ribs or spare ribs

Spice Rub:

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Additional:

  • 1 can (12 ounces) Coca-Cola
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce (your favorite variety)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ribs: Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for better texture.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the ribs on both sides.

  3. Cook Ribs: Cut the ribs into sections if needed to fit into the slow cooker. Place the ribs in the slow cooker and pour the Coca-Cola over them.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours, until the ribs are tender and nearly falling off the bone.

  5. Finish and Serve: Carefully remove the ribs from the slow cooker and place them on a baking sheet. Brush generously with barbecue sauce.
  6. Broil in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly. Serve hot with extra sauce on the side.

Notes

  • You can use diet or zero-sugar cola if preferred.
  • For spicier ribs, add a pinch of cayenne to the rub or use a spicy barbecue sauce.
