  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce plus more for serving
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • sandwich buns for serving
  • coleslaw for topping optional

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the slow cooker: Put the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, mix together barbecue sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook the chicken: Pour the sauce over the chicken, cover, and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until tender.
  4. Shred the chicken: Remove the chicken, shred it with forks, then return it to the slow cooker and mix with the sauce.
  5. Serve: Serve the pulled BBQ chicken on sandwich buns with extra barbecue sauce and coleslaw if desired.
