- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup barbecue sauce plus more for serving
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- sandwich buns for serving
- coleslaw for topping optional
Instructions
- Place the chicken in the slow cooker: Put the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, mix together barbecue sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cook the chicken: Pour the sauce over the chicken, cover, and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until tender.
- Shred the chicken: Remove the chicken, shred it with forks, then return it to the slow cooker and mix with the sauce.
- Serve: Serve the pulled BBQ chicken on sandwich buns with extra barbecue sauce and coleslaw if desired.

- This recipe can also be made with boneless chicken thighs for a richer flavor.
