Chicken:
- 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Sauce:
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)
Optional toppings:
- Sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry and toss with cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook chicken until golden.
- Make the Sauce: Combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in the skillet.
- Combine and Serve: Toss chicken in sauce until glazed.
Coat the chicken evenly.
Remove and set aside.
Simmer and thicken with cornstarch slurry.
Serve over rice with optional toppings.
Notes
- You can substitute maple syrup for honey for a different flavor.
