For the Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)
For the Stir-Fry:
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
- Cooked rice for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and the cornstarch slurry. Set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Shrimp: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Broccoli: Add the remaining oil to the skillet, then add the broccoli. Stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
- Add Aromatics: Add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes if using, and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Combine and Finish: Return the shrimp to the pan, pour in the sauce mixture, and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
- Serve: Serve hot over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
- For extra crunch, blanch the broccoli for 1 minute before stir-frying.
- You can substitute chicken or tofu for the shrimp.
