Description

A delicious and easy-to-make stir-fried shrimp and broccoli recipe with a flavorful sauce, perfect for a quick Asian-inspired meal. Tender shrimp, crisp broccoli, and a savory sauce come together in this satisfying dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and the cornstarch slurry. Set aside.
  2. Stir-Fry the Shrimp: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Stir-Fry the Broccoli: Add the remaining oil to the skillet, then add the broccoli. Stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  4. Add Aromatics: Add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes if using, and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  5. Combine and Finish: Return the shrimp to the pan, pour in the sauce mixture, and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Serve: Serve hot over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, blanch the broccoli for 1 minute before stir-frying.
  • You can substitute chicken or tofu for the shrimp.
