- 2 tablespoons apple juice (unsweetened)
- 2 tablespoons liquid smoke

- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together tomato sauce, vinegar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, apple juice, and liquid smoke until smooth.
- Stir in olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne if using.
- Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors are well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Allow to cool before storing in a glass jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- For a sweeter flavor without sugar, add a few drops of liquid stevia or monk fruit sweetener.
