Main Burger:
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (80/20)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Mushroom and Onion Topping:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 8 oz cremini or button mushrooms (sliced)
- 1 small onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Additional Ingredients:
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 brioche or hamburger buns
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Lettuce or baby spinach (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Main Burger: In a large bowl, mix ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 patties. Set aside.
- Mushroom and Onion Topping: In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and olive oil. Sauté mushrooms and onions for 8–10 minutes until golden. Season with salt. Set aside.
- Cooking: Cook burger patties for 4–5 minutes per side on a grill or skillet. Add Swiss cheese during the last minute to melt. Toast buns. Spread mayonnaise (and Dijon mustard) on buns, add lettuce or spinach, place patty, and top with mushroom mixture.
- Serve immediately.
