For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)
  • cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok. Stir-fry the beef slices until browned, then set aside.
  2. Sauté the Broccoli: In the same skillet, sauté the broccoli until tender-crisp.
  3. Make the Sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, water, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Add to the skillet with broccoli.
  4. Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
  5. Combine and Serve: Return beef to the skillet, toss with sauce, and heat through. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve over rice.

Notes

  • You can substitute flank steak with skirt steak or sirloin.
  • For a low-carb version, serve over cauliflower rice.
