For the patties:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For serving:
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Red onion
- Mayo or extra teriyaki sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, teriyaki sauce, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix just until combined—do not overwork.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side or until cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F).
- During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
- Toast the buns if desired, then assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, onion, and your choice of mayo or an extra drizzle of teriyaki sauce. Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, brush patties with more teriyaki sauce as they cook.
- Turkey or chicken can be used in place of beef.
