Seasonings:

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Thickener:

  • ¼ cup masa harina
  • ½ cup water

Beans:

  • 15-ounce can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 15-ounce can pinto beans, drained and rinsed

Instructions

  1. Brown Beef: In a large pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add Ingredients: Add garlic and tomato sauce, stirring for about 1 minute. Mix in seasonings. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add water if needed.
  3. Thicken: Whisk masa harina with water, then stir into the chili. Add drained beans and simmer for 10 more minutes.
