Description

These classic Thumbprint Cookies are buttery, tender, and filled with your favorite fruit jam. A perfect treat for any occasion!

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Filling:

  • 1/2 cup fruit jam or preserves (such as raspberry, strawberry, or apricot)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the egg yolks and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Mix dry ingredients: Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Shape the dough: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Add filling: Use your thumb or the back of a small spoon to make an indentation in the center of each ball. Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of jam.
  7. Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool and serve: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
