Main Batter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 6 oz semisweet chocolate (chopped or chips)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease well.
- Melt butter and chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and semisweet chocolate together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Prepare batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Slowly add the cooled chocolate mixture and mix until combined.
- Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Stir in the milk chocolate chips.
- Fill muffin cups: Fill each muffin cup about halfway with batter. Place a chocolate truffle or square in the center, then cover with more batter until about 3/4 full.
- Bake: Bake for 13–16 minutes, until the tops are set but the centers are still soft. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving warm for the best lava effect.
