Brownie Base

- 1 bag (11 ounces) caramel bits
- 2 Tablespoons milk
Chocolate Topping
- 1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips
- 1 Tablespoon shortening
Instructions
- Prepare Brownies: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch glass baking pan with non-stick spray. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Incorporate the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until just combined. Gradually add the salt, unsweetened cocoa powder, and all-purpose flour to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until combined; avoid overmixing to keep the brownies tender. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and allow the brownies to cool completely.
