- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Holiday sprinkles or maraschino cherries (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Beat butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients: Add vanilla extract, then sift in flour, cornstarch, and salt. Beat until smooth and airy.
- Shape and decorate: Drop dough onto baking sheet, flatten, and decorate with sprinkles or cherries.
- Bake: Bake for 18–20 minutes until lightly golden on the bottom.
- Cool and serve: Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
